Tin Smithing in Mexico is an age-old craft, harkening back to the colonial period when exquisite candelabras, niches and altarpieces were fashioned for the great cathedrals of New Spain. Elegantly carved candleholders, magical shadow-casting luminarias, as well as embossed frames, engraved crosses and more contemporary style pieces, borrow heavily from traditional Mexican designs.
Iron crafting, like tin-smithing, shares a colonial legacy. Hand-wrought iron originally fashioned as adornments and fixtures for the beautiful churches, which dominate Mexico's landscape, provide the inspiration for our lovely candle holders and our more contemporary floor and table lamps.
